fuel filter tool

I bought this fuel filter tool at autozone. It is just a little peice with a lip to fit into one of the 2 ends of the filter. I changed one out and it was a beotch. Now I can not get this one off for nothing. It is still the one from my old engine and I want to replace it and also cut it open to see what it looks like. What fuel filter tool to you all use and where did you get it?
Thanks

The tools you have will work, sometimes it helps to actually push the line towards the filter while you slide the tool into the line. Then as you try pulling the line away from the filter continue to push the clip towards the line.

I know that prolly sounds confusing but trust me, if you can understand what Im trying to say, it will work

Halflife did they sell you the plastic one or the metal type! What Bigfan said does work, sometimes it will help if you use a lil wd40 as they can develope some dirt and it makes it a real bitch for it to push the spring lock back! Artie

Well I give up. I could not get the filter off for nothing. I tried and tried. I even used a screw driver to try and get some leverage and push the tool a little further in and the screwdriver cracked in half.
Well I am tossing in the towel on this one and will let Ford change it for me.

Like they said, try pushing the line toward the filter first, it moves about a half inch. Then insert the tool and push away from the filter. Took me about 5 mins from start to finish once i got the right size tool

I did that and no luck. Mine does not move too much. I think I may have broke the spring of whatever holds it on.
Off to Ford tonight, I am going to have them run a scan anyhow to see if they can figure out why I have a misfire.

I've always used the Lisle plastic ones

Air Conditioning / Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set

They have always done the trick for me on my Mustangs, my son's f150 and now the L.

Ford changed it for me. I had the right tool because the tech had the exact same one I had. I took him awhile to get it off. Said it was the hardest filter change he has ever done. There must have been something jammed in there and my weak azz was not strong enough

Probably the tip of the screwdriver you broke off in it!!

Glad you got it resolved - hope everthing else works itself out too.
