looking at used L.

I ve been looking at buying a L but cant afford a new one. So i finally found one I could afford. Its a 2000 for 16,500 but when i went to ask to test drive salesman said it isnt running right. He said it likely has water in the fuel lines from sitting (ya right) He called me today said it was all fixed. Any suggestions? Should i just look for a different one? Im a little worried about it not running right.

From: Colorado,
Welcome!
Go take it for a test drive and don't be afraid to run it hard.
Don't put any money down and shop around.
Ask for an Oasis report on it and that will tell you of any warranty work done.
If your mechanicaly inclined look at the engine and drive line.

You don't have to do anything you don't want. But it sounds like your getting serious. So start getting familiar with them.

Good Luck and keep us posted. Come back with some questions and read the forum and you will learn a lot.

Not sure where you are located but my 2001 L is still for sale at a local dealer in Sioux Falls, SD (Verne Edie Mercedes). I think they're asking in the low 20's for it but it's been there a couple months now. And winter is coming.

Anyway, I know the former owner (ME!) and it is a nice truck. White with 25,000 miles.

MOVE ON! Don't get a truck that wasn't running right at first but now is "FIXED". I wouldn't trust whatever band-aid method they used to fix the truck just long enough to get it sold. There are plenty of Lightnings out there for sale so I don't see why you'd be inclined to buy something that isn't 100%. You can't trust most used car salespeople. You'll be soory you got it when "it doesn't run right" again.

I agree...unless you are going to get a killer deal on it because it has had some issues. Keep looking. But take it for a drive anyway just for comparisons sake. I live in Jersey and I have seen 3 or 4 for sale at random used dealers, and at peoples homes...so they are available, just try to be patient it will be worth it.
