Unhappy Someone HELP

Hey Guys I gotta big question.
Today on the ride home from work I was driving and my Service engine light came on. I have the codes I just dont know what it is I have to do to fix the problem.

I threw code
P01000---OBD Systems Readiness Test not Complete
and P0340----Camshaft Sensor Circuit A (Bank 1)

Can anyone help and tell me what I gotta do to fix this ???

Well I'm goin to replace my cam sensor tomorrow, but I was hoping to get some of you guys input. Is it common for these sensors to go bad ? Or am I just one of the lucky few ? Whats the likelihood something else happend in the motor to make sensor go out ??? I dont wanna make a small problem become a big one, or a big problem become an even bigger one. Can anyone please help me out.

the OBD Systems Readiness Test not Complete code is nothing you get that when you read codes sometimes, just ignore that.

the Camshaft Sensor Circuit A (Bank 1) code means either the sensor has gone bad, or it is unplugged. Did you clean the engine recientlly?? Check to make sure it is pluged in. If not they do go once in a while.

I did check it Don at least I think I did. small connection just below the middle of the driverside valve cover. held in place with what looks like an 8mm bolt. I havnt really cleaned the engine recently but I guess a cleaning may of fried something. I have a friend that can get me the part for $15 is it hard to install ? or is it just remove the 8mm pull out push in the new one and screw the 8mm back in ??

Thanks Don

I have never had to replace one, knock on wood. I would think it is pretty simple. For 15 bucks I would just replace it.

The only ones that have ever gone bad on me were a vehical speed sensor, and a egr sensor.

oh o.k. Don. Thanks. I was just worried that something happend to my cam or something to trigger the sensor to break. Maybe I'm a lil over worried.

Thanks Again

It's not hard to do if your standing in front of your truck with the hood open look at the upper right hand side of the front timing cover. You will see a sensor that has a single plug. One bolt holds it in. Just unplug the plug remove the sensor swap it out re install the bolt plug it back in and thats it.

O.k. Suavy thanks....does the location I mentiond sound about right ?? just below middle of the valve cover. I know its a sensor, and has one plug and held with one bolt.

Well I just got in from switching out that sensor....pretty easy task. Cant believe when I called the ford dealer that they wanted $136 for the part and install, when I got it for 21 and installed it in less time than it took to get the tools out. Cleared the error code with the predator and all seems fine. No more throttle hesitation like I had leading up to the light comin on. I wanted to send a great big THANK YOU to Don, Suavy and Sal(for callin me on the phone to help). Thanks Guys
