Why the H3LL was my L so hard to start this morning!?!?!?
Why the H3LL was my L so hard to start this morning!?!?!?
I have a '99 Lightning w/ about 42k miles. A few months ago, about every 20th start was a bit slow and awkward.
I thought I fixed that by turning the key to "accessory" until the fuel system presurized all the way.....about 3 seconds, then starting it.
This morning, about 60 degrees out, I started it up 3 times and each time it just revved up and died.
So I gave it some gas on the 4th time and I had to keep gassing it for about 5 seconds until it leveled off and remained running.
This happen to anyone else??? The batt. and alternator seem fine.

fuel filter?
Just yesterday my remote start stopped working. It would crank but the engine would not turn over. I have to use the key?
I had misfire code in cylinder 6, change plug and coil pac but I think there maybe another bad plug.

I guess I will be the first to say it ... "clean your IAC"
its held on by two bolts, and has a single sensor clip. Its on the the left side of your plenum if your looking at the engine. Looks like a cylinder sorta. Take it off and clean it with carb spray really good...you may even use some q-tips if your careful...just dont get any cotton stuck in it... once its clean let it dry or blast it out with a compressor..... if that doesnt fix it, it may be defective
its a common problem...my last two f-150s have done it.

I'll change the fuel filter. I'm the 3rd owner, and I bet its never been done before.
As for the IAC, I'll definately check it out..............basically b/c I have no idea what it is.......Thanks man.
