Very interesting Konig, good link.
NOW YOUR GETTING IT XArchAngelX
See why I said, NO MORE WAVING TO SRT-10's
They may take it as a Lightning bowing out of a race
OR SOMETHING
I didn't know about the Cam Recall, WOW
So lets review:
They have a piece of plastic inside the transmission that breaks
A shifter with a 10ft throw
A bad Clutch that everyones burning out
A Cam Shaft Recall
No aftermarket parts
and if you back off AS THEY CATCH UP to a L
They see it as a Kill,
hehehehehehehehehe

I think there is something with their drive shafts too if Im not mistaken... a two piece drive shaft? or maybe that was on the extended cab version thats supposed to come out soon. I was just suprised that Dodge wasnt giving that guy any help. I know I would be pissed if I lost 20 some hp with no explanation.

Don't take this as a bash against Dodge, but merely an observation...
Saturday morning I stopped by a shop in my area that is going to do some work on my new '04 L. While talking to the shop's owner, I noticed an SRT-10 in the back and asked him if I could take a look at it.
He has done a lot of work on the Dodge and is friends with the guy. He said: "Your Lightning would kill this thing...." I was surprised, but he said he raced the SRT-10 with his '04 F-250 Powerstroke 4x4 which is packed with mods and it stayed even!!! To make things worse he drove the SRT-10 and the Dodge owner drove the Powerstroke. The shop owner said that the SRT-10 guy didn't know how to shift well enough to race so he let the guy race in his AOD Ford to make it fair! I tend to believe the guy, because he is a speed junkie and doesn't care what kind of badge is on the hood. And yes, a lawn tractor can cream a Ferrari with the right mods....... Well, maybe not.
The interior is really nice and the brakes are supposed to be awsome. This particular truck is on it's second engine due to cam problems and on the second clutch with less than 20,000 miles. Hmmm..... I wonder if the shop owner burned up that first clutch? The SRT-10 owner also had to pay the dealer $5,000 over sticker as a bonus.
Unfortunately, I don't like the looks of the truck in general, but that V-10 sure looks fine under the hood.
On the other hand, I love everything about my new L.

I'm still on the fence as to whether I like the SRT10 Ram better than the Lightning, or the other way around.
I don't look at the subject of value or "bang for the buck" because the purchase of either one would be purely hypothetical (I have a Lightning, I don't need another truck).
The large aftermarket Lightnings have is a definite plus, but Ford doesn't encourage us to mod our trucks and they are very fickle with warranty issues.
The Dodge looks fugly. The front end looks horrible and the rear wing and exhaust seem like afterthoughts. The rims I can stomach and going to a smaller size or slicks for the track isn't that hard. The Lightning wins this one in my book by a large margin though.
The drivetrain is a tough call. The SRT10 Ram has a Viper engine. 'Nuff said. Lack of aftermarket support is a pitfall, but being able to take a 200 shot is still pretty good in my book. I wonder what a turbo or SC kit would do for one, as I'm sure the forged internals would be able to stand up to the abuse. I wish our trucks could go safely beyond the 500 rwhp mark, but alas our rods are sh*t and our plugs like to divorce our heads. I'm sure the Dodge has its share of problems, but spitting plugs and shooting rods is somewhat discouraging when you're wanting to strap on a KB and spray a shot of giggle gas on the stock block. This means that, as inexpensive as some of our bolt-ons might seem, going past the 500 rwhp mark safely is still a feat that often requires tearing the engine down, upgrading the internals, etc. The Viper motor has proven that it can take quite a lot before giving up.
The T56 must be fun, but I've never drive the Dodge so I don't know how natural it feels shifting in the Tonka.
The Dodge wins in the brakes department. Period.
