Letter from Ford

So i got this letter from ford about Tie-Rod Inspection. Is theere something wrong with our tie-rods? Could this be the reason we have the clunk sound when turning?

nope....clunk is something entirely different. I'm sure they (Ford) have seen some adverse wearing on the front end ball joints and just want to make sure that those componets are looked at every so often... Heck they might have even seen a few failures...:o

3783mi left on it. (6yr/60k) Doesn't matter though, not a warranty replaceable part. That and they might notice the Roush springs and QA1 shocks. :P

This is just an inspection deal no recalls or warranty work. I think it covers 99 to 02 Lightnings as well as F150's,Expedetions and Navi's...

I got the letter

Have a 2KL. Just took it in for 15k service and they did inspection at no charge. Little off topic but owners manual says to lube ball joints & ?. Normally good dealer seemed oblivious?

My SVT dealer inspected mine for free (31,500) miles on it. They told me that Ford updated the procedure and wanted to ensure that customers that use non-Ford service can be assured of having it done correctly. They gave me a clean bill of health on the tie-rods. I have no sway-bar installed, 16" Weld front wheels with smaller tires installed, and Eibach springs for lowering and they didn't say a word...
