Oil

Is there a problem running 10W-30 oil in my truck?

On the oil cap it says 5W-20.

I have read somewhere that the 5W-30W, was specified to assist in Gas economy! However: in the hot Houston weather, 10W-30W would not hurt. I use 5W-30W.

10-30W is fine. It's not that critical. You should consider synthetic (either Amsoil or Mobil One). Royal Purple is dark in color, and it's difficult to see when oil is dirty. Plus, it's the new guy on the block. I like tried-and-true.

Changing oil by color isn't a very good practice to get into. Oil should be changed by mileage, hours or analysis.

I agree, I just don't like the idea of dark colored oil to begin with. I run Amsoil Series 2000 0-30W for 5-6k miles between changes.
