Fuel Filter?
What kind of fuel filter are most of you running?
Ford,Fram,Wix and etc.
I know that I put a wix filter on one of my big trucks that has a fuel flow gauge. Donalson is oem for the truck and the gauge was on about 2 or 3 pound of restriction after 8 to 10 thousand miles. The wix was about 10 pounds new and 15 pounds after a couple thousand miles.
So I do not want to starve the truck for fuel but need it to filter the fuel good.

I usually go with wix, there are very few filter manufacturer's (just a bunch of repackager's, from my understanding).
correct me if I'm wrong.

They will stand behind them also. It cost them about $12 thousand to fix the motor in one of my trucks. They did not back up at all. It would be nice if all the manufactors would stand up and say that they have a problem sometimes.
I would think if you take caution as to where you buy your fuel and always avoid a place that has a fuel truck delivering it's load you won't have problems with a average filter.
When I redid the fuel lines on my 99 pump I was amazed at the size of the intake filter sock that is in the fuel tank.
Obviously from the experiences of folks on there dirty fuel filters it must just be to keep stones and small animals from clogging the pumps. They must say insinkerator on the side of the pump somewhere.
Next time you buy filters. Get several, there cheap insurance.
If you have it on hand your more likely to replace it regularly.
It is a great job to do when your hands are absolutley filthy with grease and you are bound to get gas all over to help clean it off.

I've always used the Motorcraft (Ford) ones on my L and Mustangs, and am the retentive type that cuts them open everytime I change them to see health of fuel system. I'm sold on Motorcraft - no problems, readily available, and solid construction.
