Brake Fluid Change

Have 32K on the truck and thinking about changing the fluid.

I did a search but can not find a step by step for the process so if someone could hook that up.

And

At what miles do you all change your brake fluid. I have changed everything so far except brakes and the rear end.

I bleed my brakes at 22,000 miles and didnt notice a difference at all. I only bleed them because I was going to a Open track event and was advised that my black fluid wasnt a good thing. I now have 26,000 miles and will bleed them again only for safety because Im going to another open track event. I use the brake fluid that you get from your local Ford dealer because the open track community likes the stuff and its only $3.5/pint. I start with the back passengers tire, then goto driversside rear, then front passengers and front drivers last. I have somebody pump the pedal 3 times, hold it on the 3rd pump and open the bleeder on caliper. I repeat that procedure about 10 times on rear wheels and around 5 on the fronts, besure to constantly check fluid in master cylinder and keep adding fluid. This process uses a little over a pint of fluid and I throw away the left over in 2nd pint. Never use a preopened container of brake fluid because it will develope water and that defeats the entire reason for bleeding the system.

Hope that helps

If it ain't golden it gets flushed. I use a turkey baster to remove almost
all the fluid from the resivoir. Then GENTLY fill with new.

Follow Big fan's sequence (Farthest first) and bleed each one
about 20 times. (I generally do it until the resovoir is almost
empty a again.

If the fluid is discolored, it was probably boiled at some time from
the heat.

GINGERMAN in THREE WEEKS !!! WOOHOO !!!

and.....the rear brakes share a brake line, so, the first one bled takes more pumps to get the nasty out compared to the other rear and the fronts. Brake fluid needs to be changed occasionally and is often overlooked.
