Question Best rolling start speed?

A friend of mine has a modded Honda S2000 and he wants to run from a rolling start. I have killed him twice from a dead stop and now he wants to go from a roll. At what speeds is the Lightning most lethal from a roll? I know when I go from 45 it pulls hard, but what speeds lower than 45 are good?

(my mods are a CAI, and a custom tune 9100 SCT)

the lower the speed the better you can take advantage of the immense torque us lightnings make.

Find out where your 1-2 shift is and if you HAVE to go from a rolling start I'd make it above that speed.
Why?
If you sart lower than that, you'll spin during the 1-2 shift and lose some ground.

Those s2000 can't hook up well from a standing start. A magazine put a s/c on one and it was faster up high, but the same off the line.

Good paoint I-Menace. For me, my Lightning is most leathal from a roll of 15 mph until I run out of road or GAS. I think for most Lightnings 15 mph roll would work great.

Thanks. I'll try him from a roll. From a stop, he either bogs the engine or lights up the tires. I don't think he will have a chance at 15 MPH either because that VTEC doesn't wake up until 6000 RPM. I think it makes peak HP around 8500.

I'll run him from 40mph to just for curiosity.

"Racing" from a "Roll" is an oxymoron, but
if he insists, tell you will race from a 120 ROLL.

That shuts up most of the ricer boys.

lightnings won't down shift in to 1st over 24 mph (unless you've had that changed, mines 29mph)or hold it in gear. i like 50mph rolls, really pulls hard instantly

forgot to add this:

2nd gear is our weakest gear as it only has 2(I'm pretty sure) clutch plates holding it.

Puting the tranny in "2" manually is Devostating to the tranny becuase when you do it manually it is held there by the belt, not the clutches, so it is weaker yet and has much more wear on the trany.

i've talked to greg evans about 2nd gear drops. he has said that they are perfectly fine at speeds up to about 60. I dont think you have the right information L-Menace.

edit- and by drop i mean manually dropping it into 2nd from a dead stop or from speeds up to 60mph

IF have stock rods and continue to do those "drops" some of those stock rods will be outside the oil pan looking in

I was wondering why 60 MPH downshifts are supposedly harder on rods than a full out run?

From: Colorado,
Your momentaryly reversing the stress direction as the weight of the vehicle is turning the engine instead of the engine pushing the truck.

It is a sudden shock and reversing the stress momentarily through out the reciprocating parts.

That's a bad thing!

I don't know if stress is the right term. It's all about clearances and direction of force.
Also streching rod bolts. (Tensile strength) < >

Hope that helps. I think I just confused myself:o
