Question Is there anybody out there with an Airride???

Hey,

I want to built in an Airride suspension and I've found these parts from Ridetech :

ABAR11002 AirBar 4 Link System - Rear System
ARF5005 Cool Ride - Front System
ARC4800e Compressor Kit - BIGRed

Has someone good or bad experience with Airride components.
It doesn't matter if it is good for racing or 1/4 mile.
Here in Germany noone is interested in 1/4 times.
We can drive as fast as we can or want on nearly all our highways, so it is important that the parts I built in are proofed for long high speed turns.

Maybe someone can explain me the difference between 'Cool Ride' and 'Shockwave'.

Bye,
Christian

I have lots of first hand experience with Air Ride but not in a Lightning.

Shockwaves are airbags with the shock mounted inside them.
Cool Rides are seperate.

FYI.......the Ride Pro system is bad a$$. Just finsihed installing one......still polishing a mount for the 4 way controller.

Hey, Soap:

How about a few more details on the system you like? Will it work on a Lightning? By "work", I mean hook up well and not hurt the cornering or ride......

Payload and towing

Sometimes I have to carry newspapers on the truckbed and a trailer full of paper. I know the airride systems from my Chevy Pick Ups and my El Camino, but it was only airbags in the rear for supporting the ordinary suspension. Now I want to build in the AirBar system so the leafsprings will be replaced entirely.
And I don't know how the ride will be after doing it. It is much of money I have to spend and if it doesn't work fine it will be very difficult for me to sell the parts in Germany. And of course what will be if the parts doesn't fit or something wrong will be delivered. Than I have to send it back to the USA, because no dealer is around. What's about my 22'' rims and tires, will it fit without working on the fenders. What's about driving 110mph for 2 hours??? There are many questions and noone can help me in Germany, because airride systems aren't legal the same as NOS!!! Everything good isn't allowed.

Airride Technology is the way to go. All of their products are top quality. The
Shockwaves have a QA1 shock built in to them which makes for an easier
install, they just bolt in, the drawback is that they do not go as low when the
air is let out. The other setup is a straight forward airbag which allows the truck
go lower. I have a friend who is the authorized dealer in my area (Pittsburgh,
PA) and he will ship overseas. If you would like his web site please email me
(not sure if it's cool to post it). Hope this helps.

I'm getting a bit of topic, but why is nitrous not legal? My manufacturer is in the U.K. so I have pretty good European info and I only thought France had laws against everything? People only think nitrous is illegal but they are misinformed.

I know my red L did it without a problem. I had cruise control set at 100 pretty much my entire trip to Missouri last summer only slowing down when my radar detector/laser diffuser went off.

One of the fellas in town has a "C" notched
4-Link setup with ari Ride on his F150 ... seems
to work ok... Not for my tastes, but OK.

He has a spark plate and everything ...

You'd have to see it to believe it.

NOS

Hello racetested,

you can use NOS on a not public street or drag strip.
If you have a working NOS facility onboard, while you driving a public steet and the cops detect it, they can lay up your car. Also you loose your insurance protection, you offend against the anesthesia law etc.
A friend of mine had NOS in his rice rocket and he knows the problem, because the cops got him.

Ask your friend in UK, it is true.
