New found problem with my 2000 L
In my garage tonight I pulled the stock heaton off to replace w/ magnum and found out that it being a 2000 DIDNT have the intercooler recall done(counted 9 rows not 10) and they are nasty black with chips of rotor coating caked inside.
If I clean and reinstall with the Magnum will it hurt performance or cause cooling issues with the new power added
Im not to familiar with what advantages the 2001 up 10 row has over the earlier 9 row intercooler, is it a necessity?
How bad do i need to do this upgrade to justify the cost of #800-$ with me doing the labor
I just ordered 700- more in parts yesterday and tonight found out about the Intercooler problem

Buy the new intercooler. I have a 2000 L as well, went through 2 of those pos intercooler failures which I think led to a subsequent engine and cat failure. I now have the re-call intercooler, no leaks, no problems.
I'm pretty sure the mid-plate is different as well. (I don't know what is different about it exactly)
Personally I think it's money well spent to swap to the later version. Not so much as a power adder. But more piece of mind than anything.

To late guys, I cleaned the 2000 OEM intercooler w/ carb cleaner and powdercoated it black along w/ the Mag and intake today
Called two tuners and they said the 9 row would be fine w/ the Mag but it would rob atleast 10 hp (oh well, that dosent account for a 800- new intercooler cost)
The black looks good, I should have her running tommorow evening.
Do you guys think it will be safe to drive to the Dyno 15 miles away as long as I dont boost AT ALL
