If you want some real thrills, run the road course there. A modded Lightning should be able to hit 140 going into turn 1. With a stock engine, I was clipping 130 the first time out.
I like my adrenaline delivered in longer than 12 second shots.
Look at the map -- it's like running the drag strip over and over again. With no downtime between runs.

Trust me -- once you have done a high-speed road course, drag racing -- or even autocrossing -- will lose its luster. Too much waiting and not enough adrenaline. The only drawback is cost, but NASA events are only about $125-150/day. And if you are cool with the equipment, tire and brake costs can be reasonable.
Cal Speedway is a top-notch facility. And running the road course there is easily to most fun that I have ever had with my clothes on. This track was tailor made for a Lightning.
Tim,
To each his own, right? I dont care for road racing... My truck doesnt even have any sway bars, so I doubt I would have any fun taking the turns at 10mph...
The rush of accelerating with more horsepower than I should have is way more fun to me. And regardless of what anyone says, successfully competing in drag-racing takes just as much skill. (There more to it than just flooring it and holding on)
When I want to do something different, I do this:

Not trying to get into a debate here, just hoping you can respect drag-racing as real fun as well...
