Had a similar experience, with a KTM MX-300. Finished installing the jug and new coated wiseco piston and reinstalling the exhaust. Got it all done and fired it up on second stroke! Thing was running fine for a couple of minutes and then it started sounding like it burned a piston again, I was furious! Me and a friend started troubleshooting and decided to take the spark arrestor out, still no change. Pulled the pipe and the thing started right up! Flushed the pipe out and found a mouse house made from my bimini top off the boat! The snakes are now welcome in my shed anytime!
Needless to say the piston didn't last long due to the lean condition I had at WOT! But man did she run... right before letting go, about threw me over the bars! Learning is sometimes very expensive.

DAMN, why did you go and waste a good bullet? I take it you don't have much experience in installing "speed bumps"?
