i'm in the process of taking my headers off to get recoated and the header bolts look disgustingly rusted
can they be cleaned up or where can i get ones that will last??

Also im going to need some new gaskets, any ideas...i did a search and looked at percy but did see ones for a lightning

Use Mr Gasket Ultra seal. Jeg's has the part numbers.

 

if you are using the Kooks/JDM headers then any 2.5" collector header gasket should do fine.

my local autozone carries both the Percy's aluminum and the Mr. Gasket Ultra Seal versions.

I made the mistake of overtightning my collectors. the area around the bolt holes is slightly bent forward so when I tighten them down the bolt area touches first, leaving less pressure in between the bolt holes, and increasing the chances of a blown gasket. so avoid overtightning.

What r the torque specs for the headers and collectors??

It took me about 2hrs to get the friggin egr tube off but they are finally out, i dont want to have to do that again so im thinking of pulling the motor while the headers are out of the way and maybe doing the bottom end before it blows up...any idea where i can get all the parts at a reasonable price???
