I must agree with Tim Skelton. The huge H-A-N-K-O-O-K written in the sidewall is nasty. And yes LIGHTNING GUY, I see your point with the "$30,000 Lightning" thought. I just happen to be doin home improvements at present time and I could never buy the Lightning again if I had to do it today. But you are right.....I think I'll run the F1's to the belts then go get some TOYO's or try to find a way to hide that damn H-A-N-K-O-O-K!!!!

What "quality" would you be referring to then? When looking at tires for a performance vehicle, I generally attribute traction, grip, handling, etc. as signs of quality.
and the Toyo would fit into that category. I never said one was better over the other, but you saying that the Toyo isn't a quality tire only shows some ignorance on your part. Why are you trying to turn this into a negative thread? No reason to discuss any further as the Toyo and the Goodyear are both quality tires.

Exactly what I thought...

I'm not trying to turn this into a negative thread, but it just pains me to see a fellow Lightning owner opt for tires that wear better over tires that perform. As for first-hand commentary from someone who drives his truck harder than most do, ask thepawn about his Toyo experience.

Again, I'm of the old addage that tires win races. A good tire is more crucial than which vendor's pulley you run or what catback you went with. Why slap cheap tires that don't ring out as much performance as possible on a Lightning you spent $30,000 to enjoy? Doesn't seem to make sense to me.

If it were me, I'd pony up the extra $200 or $250 for a set of F1s over a lesser tire than I would purchase a $400 single blade throttle body or a $650 catback.

Again, it's your money and my opinion.

It's all relevant to what each person wants. My point was simply that the Hankooks are not in the same category of quality as the Goodyears or Toyos. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. You are assuming that everyone races their truck with the stock tires, where that simply isn't the case. Some want a longer treadlife tire for the street and will use slicks for the stip. In every decision there are always compromises. With Goodyears you get better launching ability. With the Toyos you get longer wear and some will even say the Toyos will also give you better handling in the rain. If my post had said that Toyo and Goodyears will give you equal launching ability, then your correction would be appropriate. I was just merely comparing the quality of the tires to the Hankooks. I hope you have a better understanding now of what my post was refering to.
