Question Dynatech Powercats?

I did a search and only came up with one post and nothing useful.
Has anyone tried these and have any thoughts. I heard there were rising problems with the magnaflows. And for the price of $150 each i figure maybe i'll give these a try?

Anyone tried these or have a cheaper alternative. No cats is not an option b/c i have to get the tags renewed in less than a year and i'm not removing it just for that.

Thanks guys,

Jon

Hey Jon,
Think I saw you in Newark a couple of months ago, you were in front on 896 and I pulled beside you to turn into Delaware Tire?? I have a 2003 shadow grey.

A guy I work with bought a pair of them off of rpm outlet, the muffler shop refused to put them on because they said, "off-road use only" Don't know why you would use a catalytic converter for off road?

Bryan.

I'm using them, but I've only had them on the truck for a short time.

FWIW, I dumped nearly 9 quarts of oil through one of them on the way home from NY when my motor blew up, and I haven't gotten any codes and the catalyst appears to be fine by visual inspection.

I know this doesn't help much, a few others are also running them, but I don't know of anybody who has been running them for more than a year or so.

they are not carb or epa certified or whatever, so technically they may not be legal. but my local muffler shop didn't give me any trouble with them at all.

good luck.

later,
chris

Only OEM cats are allowed to be installed on an OBDII vehicle. Any muffler shop that does so is in violation of the law. Some have the stones, some don't.

Cool, maybe i'll give them a try. Does anyone know where you could get the magnaflows cheaper than $150, which is what i've seen. I don't know if the ones you can get on ebay and the other generic ones are the same ones that the vendors sell maybe someone could help me out...

thanks

Hey chris, if you ever have your truck back on a lift could you snap a few pics or those cats installed for me? Did you just have custom pipes bent or did you use the pipes from your magnaflow midpipe and just put those in place of the old cats?
