I keep my O/D on most of the time. I do turn it off when I take some twisty roads near my house for a little fun. It rocks driving a truck that can take a hard corner at 50-60 mph.

It doesn't matter. Overdrive won't engage at WOT until after 135. Had a problem with mine engaging on the track...but I had tranny problems. Mechanic said unless you are trapping 135 or better...not to worry.

From: Colorado,
ontario

I live in colorado where there are lots of hills and curves. Even in town.
When the speed limit is 45 I turn off my overdrive to keep it from always downshifting.

My truck shifts to OD around 40 MPH. I hate that. If I chip it I will have that changed to 50

My work truck is a 00 Ford powerstroke and it is the same way.

I recently put in a power valve and that firmed up the shifting but I still turn off the OD in town.

You will have to do the Kilo MPH conversion. I am to tired.

I don't know if it hurts the tranny but I like it to slow me down when I am going down hills and over the speed limit. Other wise I would be on the brakes all the time.

I Hope this is the kind of information you are asking for.

Your mechanic lied to you - At full throttle my truck will try to go in OD at the end of the 1/4 mile which was for me at about 110 --

Think about it the truck tops out at 143 or so - if he was right then OD is only needed for the last 8 mph ???

I was told to only use O/D for cruising and not for any kind of racing or hard load bearing activities, because O/D is the weak link in these trannies and it will be the first thing to go. So there for mine always goes off when I race.

From: Colorado,
I thought the weak link was that intermideate clutch pack.

It feels like a a 5 speed. There is that little down shift if you even give it the slightes gas to speed up.

Maybe I should have stopped sooner.

If you want to sound like a 13 year old "l33t" jackhole, by all means go ahead.
But, if it takes too much of your time to type "you" instead of "u" and forming a coherent sentence structure, maybe you can find another board to post on.
