Replacement Bearing for Idlers

Anybody know of a replacement bearing for the idlers that will not allow grease to be pushed out of the bearing. Also, is spec'd to operate in the required rpm range. I keep having the grease shoot out of my bearings and all over my polished parts.

I ordered one from chickenears when i purchased two other idlers. My idler kit had a black dust cover on the idler with a little paremeter leaking; my new idlers had orange dust covers. So I bought a bearing from Chikenears for around $14. I am not sure if it is an upgrade or simple a different color cover dust cover. You will need pliers that are bent 90 * on the end, (i cant remember the name) - You will need to remove the retaining clip and press out the old bearing. gently tap in the new bearing with a rubber mallet, replace the ring clip and your done. I also coated the out side of the bearing with grease before placement. Not hard at all good luck

I want to know where the orange dust cover bearings come from... I refuse to pay $14 for something that cost $4 AND should have come with my Metco Idler's in the first place. I've already talked to Metco and heard there poor excuse and refusal to give me new bearings. They also want $14 for a replacement bearing.. rolleyes:

Dont know what to tell you bro, it is probably more trouble than it is worth to try and get free replacements. I can say, there is no noise or leaking from the new ones. I feel your pain however, "Nothing is as advertised these days" Good Luck

I had metco idlers on my 03 cobra. They were the same bearings as the factory idlers. When the bearing started to come apart, I just pressed out the factory bearing from my old idlers and used them.

It's good to see I'm not the only one that is having problems with the metco crap bearings. The sad thing is Metco should be giving ALL of us that bought there pulley's the newer better bearings for free... instead of acting as if this is not a problem.

I have been getting a squeeling noise from what I thought was my blower snout, this weekend I inspected the idler bearings and they to seem to be falling apart. I can actually move the idler pulley slightly back and forth. Time for new bearings again real soon before a disaster happens. I just love buying poorly deisgned parts from vendors with even worse customer service.
Thanks Metco
