mercon 3 or mercon 5
which do I use on a 2003 L? Dealer told me today that I need mercon 5 but then told me that mercon 3 was in the service manual or something. So what do I need?

Mercon / Dexron III
on a related note, some trucks (like mine) came with the wrong dipstick from the factory!

So, I'm casually reading the thread, until I got to the part about the wrong dipsticks. Since I have an 03, with 1400 miles, I said to myself "Oh, sh..." and made a beeline for the garage.
Whew! There is fluid on the stick and it does say Mercon on it, but how do I know it is the right dipstick? An overfull tranny is not a happy tranny.
