First decide what sound do you want, are you going for Sound Quality or SPL? Do you want the bass to overpower everything else and sound sloppy or overpowering and clean? Do you want the bass to be noticable and compliment the speakers?

Then decide what you can afford to do.

Right now I'm just running Pioneer 6x8's with HU power. For bass I have 2 Lightning Audio 10" subs that I got on a 2 for 1 special for like $70 bucks, placed each in a generic wedge box and run by and old amp. Sounds great for what I wanted and the seats can go all the way back.

I have a stockpile of new stuff going into the truck, including 2 older Pioneer Premier 10's and a pair of JL 6.5 comps. If I didn't have the Premiers sitting in the garage taking up space, I would have opted for with either 3 JL 8's or 2 JL 10's.

Overall for my purpose, 2 10's are more then enough and sound great.

The Jl is recieving 400 watts and the Rockford 500. Up until now I've prefered JL, but in my opinion the Rockford has a better response and sounds more musical. The JL sounds overly pronounced in the lower regions. You really can't go wrong with either one. There is always room for adjustment, x-over points, amp, power, box size, etc.
Well, I decided to go with the W6's.

Could you post some dimensions, or email them to me at edokonski@comcast.net ? I'd appreciate it.

If you had any pics that would be good too. I'm a little worried about being able to put the seats back with how deep the subs are.

for the best sound, i would either build as box myself, or have one made, a cheap box that flexes can really color the sound. with the pressure that the w6's can generate, i would just have a box built with 3/4" mdf. and brace it well internally. i would be afraid those w6's would blow apart a thunderform.

That's fine, I just want to use it while I build my box. I have one available to me.

So does anyone know if they will fit??

I think i might just buy some W3v2's and put them in a thunderform to see how it sounds. My buddy is lending me his with W0's for a while, so I'll see.

Screw it, I just bought a pro box, and I'm gonna build an amp rack for it, and stuff 2 10W6v2's in it....it's .75 cu ft per side and I have plenty of power, the w6's call for .5-1, so I should be perfect, I'll let everyone know how it sounds when I get it all together.

I hope so. For 115 bux I couldn't beat it, and it saves me the aggrivation of building it. I may however take off an edge in the center so I can lay my amp back, but no biggie, should be simple enough.

Will probably sand it all down and paint/vinyl it too.

I have two JL 10". they sound great. I would definatley go with 10" and not 12". I still have the stock radio for now too. (still sounds good)

How about some Eclipse Titanium 12s? I've always been fond of those.

For those with single boxes (latemodelracer), how do you keep them from sliding around? I've been thinking about just one 10 or 12 and an amp under the seat. I'm not big into stereos anymore and just want a little extra bass.

Go to the magazine rack and pick up the October issue of Truckin'
turn to page 256 and say "no sh**". Buy it and get happy. It is a new product from Orion or Precision called MaxxBass and it works.

The driver side doesnt move anywhere but the passenger side does a little bit. I have a bracket made to goe between them on the bottom to mount my nitrous bottle to so the boxes wont be moving then

what size JL subs will fit in my boxes like i have now?

That depends on the depth and airspace, check them at www.jlaudio.com

I found that the probox has .75cu ft on each side, and a mounting depth of 7.75"....so that's PERFECT for the sub I wanted.

They call for .5-1 cu ft of airpspace and need 6.9 inches depth, that leaves an optimal .75" in the back as suggested by the installers, and that was with a W6v2 sub. I will be wiring two D-4's down to 1200 watts @ 1 ohm, that should bump a little....I hope.
