JLP Ram Air = 19.5mpg
JLP Ram Air = 19.5mpg
I just got back from an 800 mile round trip vacation to North Carolina and the truck averaged over 19.5mpg!!! I usually averaged about 16mpg on the highway so this was a huge increase. The only change to the Lightning was adding the JLP Ram Air box and I ran a 3 inch duct from behind the lower grill to the box. Has anyone else seen this kind of mpg with a ram air addition? Thank you JLP!!!
I have the JLP set up (Not Ram Air tho). I would get 13-14mpg before and now I get mostly 14 and ocasionally a 15mpg tank now.....but mostly 14.something (((I don't count the 11mpg tanks because I know why I get them
))). I did take a trip from NewOrleans to Bowling Green Kentucky and go 17.something mpg going up there. I was impressed.....thats the only time my truck has gotten THAT kind of economy...if you can call it economy.

Step 1: Fill tank completely full
Step 2: Reset trip meter
Step 3: Drive around
Step 4: Refill tank
Step 5: Divide miles you drove/Gallons put in truck
Example:
350 miles/20gallons = 17.5mpg

Rick thats awesome
I have found on long trips you do get much better highway millage. You get in a cruising mode, since you know you have so far to go anyways. Not like when your driving around your home, even on the highway. The you say what the hell and be like RobO and have fun with it all the time.
Coming back from Ohio, I had miles of open road and got into a rythem at about 75 mph, I got up to speed and just cruised the whole tankful. I too got over 19 mpg on that trip.
