8.2 is best time, what to get into 7's

of course that was with a 1.9 60' time, so I know I can improve on that...

anyway, here is my list of mods... what else can I do to get me in the 7's ??

the only 2 things I really have left on my list is the efan and maybe change to 6lb

mods are in my sig.... I also ran slicks that time too...

will the efan and a cooler thermostat get me there? or am I gonna need that 6lb and some other things???

the fastest ive been is 8.4 but that was on street tires, if you got the money get a higher stall converter like around 24-2600 youll notice the difrence and should land you some high 7 sec runs.

parden my stupidity... but what exactly does a stall converter do?

does it make the RPMs go higher before you actually take off or what??

whats best to get, 2400?? what do these usually run in price? wheres best place? how hard to install ?

I've got a 2500 stall from REM and really like it. It cost's $700 + core and shipping through them.

As far as how they work, they basicly slip more but only up to about 2500 (sitting still and power braking) What this does is gets the motor into the prime of it's torque sooner. Which in turn applies more torque to the tires when you launch. I'd guess it to be worth only a true tenth or two on a gen 2 lighting. Cars like LS1 camaros however really gain big from it.

The only real down side I can see people not liking about them is that it significantly softens the low rpm / low speed "punch". This actually suits me because I don't drive agressive anyway. Just something you ought to consider.

Installation requires pulling the tranny.

i ran 8.0s with a 6lb then put a 2400stall in and went 7.80s, then upgraded to a 8lb and went 7.60s this was all on stock motor and supercharger(before i put the big dog in). i hope this helps. first i would try the 6lb in your situation and work on 60' times. i didnt see any gain out of elec fans, although it cant hurt your chances. stall is a very good purchase.
