port job?

port job?

gotta excuse my lack of knowledge. but could someone please explain to me what a "port job" is. ive read a lot about them on these threads. also, i just put an air force one intake w/ stainless steel tube on my 03' L. i also have a borla cat back exhaust. i plan on getting a 9100 chip from troyer here pretty soon. is there anything else anyone can recommend i do to add some HP?

bare bones basic

Your engine is an air pump, the more air that goes through it the more power it makes.

By porting the supercharger, the "hole" is made biggre nd more AIR can go through it.

By porting the HEADS the intake and exhaust valve holes are bigger thus allowing more air to enter and exit the combustion chamber.

You can also polish the inside of the air flow so the air flows more smoothly and is less turbulent.

(again only the basics)
