Cost to remove and replace engine?

Since my truck was seriously banged up, they are replacing the frame. The (obviously) means the removal and replacement of the engine.

What does R&R normally cost?

Should I use this as an excuse to get a build long block?

I am not a main stream shop but I charge 40 bucks an hour for labor. About 6 or seven hr. to remove and about 12 hrs to install. do to cleaning and preping.

Powdercoat...

I'd like to, but the rebuild shop isn't really able to handle a bare frame very well... they were ... adverse ... to painting/powdercoating it (they have plenty of profitable jobs that are much easier)

Strip metal, usually sand/beadblast to prep. Part is hung in a booth/oven with a ground strap. Positively charged powder is sprayed with a gun onto part to cover. Literally will float a distance and stick to the grounded part. If it isn't even just release the ground, powder falls or wipes off and re-do. When coated evenly it is baked in an oven at 350-450 degrees to melt and seal the coating to the metal.

Actually for smaller items Eastwood and others make kits that work very well.

All depends on the size of your oven!

I was quoted about $1,000 to $1,200 for removing the engine, assembly, and installation. No machine work or anything.
