Powdercoating 99-00 wheels...

After seeing TX SVT LIGHTNING's truck with the stock 04s, I was thinking about doin the same thing with my 99s but just do the center spokes and leave most of the outer core polished. I was planning on doing 20" reps all black but it seems no one has them in silver. Any suggestions? How much would it cost to strip the chrome and powdercoat black?

About $75 / Wheel ... the expense is in the prep work
like most paint work.... You cannpt chemically peel the
stuff off, cannot sand blast it.... which leaves plastic
bead blast.

I think my best bet would prolly just powdercoat the stockers and leave the outer core polished....Does anyone know where to get the 20" reps in 01-02? I've seen them on some sites but they are like $350/wheel!!! Too much for a replica...

Wow, I guess I should consider it cheap that I can get mine done for $35 if I polish the lips and tape them myself (using their tape). More if they do all the grunt work. If not polish, its just $35 a wheel media blasted, coated, and clear coated when done.

watch out for the replicas!!!!
Im in the process of doing my 20" replicas that i had chem. stripped as well and it aint good the wheel comes out good but some time during the cooling process, the crap casting job causes the wheel to out gas and leaving little dimples in the finish... no pretty. they r supposed to be getting a second coat tomorrow...
this is because i tried to save a couple of bucks from having to buy new wheels cause the chrome was pealing off after 2 years. and it is now turning into an expense i didnt want to waste $ on

Does it look like Orange Peel? If so the stock silver ones look the same, just the nice metallic finish hides/blends this well.

Do you have a gallery or any more pics of your truck. I was thinking about getting some powdercoated rims and I would like to see what they look like first.

Tire & Wheel Connection here in Houston sells the '01-'02 20" chrome replicas. I traded my stock 18s in for 18-inch chromies and it was $750.00 exchange for all four. I'm sure the 20s can't be all that much more.

Call (281) 890-8473, ask for Raymond, and tell him you want the HALO discount.
