seatbelt reminder
Hey guys,
Has anyone else noticed that with the 2004 L's pushing the seatbelt latch once won't cancel that reminder bell every few seconds? I hope the permanent shut off instructions still work!

Thanks for the info. I did the procedure with the buckle/unbuckle, lights....etc. Next time, I'll just pull the connector. I always wear the belt, but I was sure tired of the thing going off when I got out to close the gate!!
Just for the record I do RTFM and I KNOW there is a procedure to shut the belt-minder off for good. My point was that with my 2001 L when it went off you could just push the seatbelt release button once and it would stop. But I've found with the 2004 L that procedure won't work.

I dont think I would just unplug the wire harness underneath. I am pretty sure that the airbag deploys slightly different depending on if you have your seatbelt on or not. Probably not a huge difference but if the engineers put it there its probably for a pretty good reason...
I know ill get flamed but...
In most states wearing your belt is the law .....
And Since you are driving a 400+hp pickup - Wouldnt wearing your seat belt be prudent ? If for no other reason than so when you lose control and start to slide you arent thrown around the cab and you are better able to avoid running into or over someone since you will be firmly behind the wheel ?
My $0.02

Absolutely you should wear a seatbelt. Myself I shut the reminder off for one case. I record mileage and MPG at every fuel stop. In order to read the odomoeter the key has to be turned to ON. So the chime would always go off while I was writing all that junk down.
Some of my friends won't wear S/B because it is uncomfortable. I try to explain to them that being ejected, or thrown into the windshield is much more "uncomfortable" than the S/B but they seem to all have the attitude "it won't happen to me."
Working in auto insurance, I have seen most fatalities result from NOT wearing the seat belt. And these rare stories about the seat belt restraining somebody from escaping a vehicle are so rare, they are almost an urban legend. Being thrown within or from a vehicle does more harm than the vast majority of accidents when wearing seat belts. Okay, I'm done.

My cousin was in a wreck, not wearing his seatbelt. He was tossed out of the truck, it rolled on top of him and he was trapped under it in a creek breathing creek water and mud for a few hours. He is ok now, but it took months of rehab.
