Help, truck is "clicking" when plugging the battery back in??

I have an 04 L and was putting in a stereo. Everything worked for about 10-20 minutes. I turned the truck off and continued to work on it. I was plugging in the front speakers when the truck (with out the keys) started clicking and the interior and under hood light started flashing. The amps also started to go into protection. When I tried to lock and unlock the doors, they would work but the horn did not beep, I also tried hitting the horn and it was very weak, like it was low on battery power. I unplugged the primary wire to the stereo, so now the amps are not plugged in and the truck is still clicking and it won't start!

Any ideas? Could this be a security feature?

Thanks

Could be a short somewhere. If you have never had the problem before, but you have just messed with the electrical, and now there are electrical problems then it is probably something you did. Double check your work and you might find something.

uhh.. usually not a good idea to work on the sound system with the battery hooked up. (if i read it correctly) If it isn't the battery, check your connections. Could have been a safety feature though. Try unhooking battery then reconnecting. (reset computer) other than that i'm out of ideas

Don't want to highjack a thread but, was wondering what you thought of the new alpine dvd player (flip-out for the L . One shop told me it won't fit that, I would probably need a Eclipse player. Is this true ? Thanx !

Thanks to all that posted, TXSVTLIGHTNING and the rest of you were right on the money, it was a dead battery! I feel like an idiot. The clicking and the flashing light thing had me scared, I did not want to have to check all the connections! I jumped it with another car and all is fine. I guess 3 days of the doors and hood open will do that.

So it was a dead battery....

But if you had not asked the question, dozens of us would not know what's up when it happens. A sound upgrade is next on my list!

Hey John
Fill us in on what you installed in your truck

I just put a new Alpine 9833 in my truck, so I can switch to Sirius when there Alpine tuner comes out in september. I am getting sick of XM radio and will be switching as soon as the Sirius comes out.

I'm considering installing XM or Sirius in my cars...what bothered you about XM? Was it too repetitive or did it have bad reception?
