Mercon ?

Hey guys. Just a few quick questions?
I am installing something in my tranny later today if the mail man brings me a package.

How many quarts do I need if I just drop the pan?

Where are you guys buying your Mercon?

Last time I settled for this stuff NAPA had that was supposed to be the same (NOT MERCON V ). They said it was made by Valvoline and it was a whole lot cheaper.....

I'm not looking for a bargin. I want the "Mercon"

I don't want to hassle with switching to full synthetic ether.

I know Rob runs the wrong stuff without problems so far but I am still under warranty. (I think)

Get it at dealer Parts, make sure they give you the right chitt. It will say on your dipstick correct Mercon to use thats provided you have the right dipstick in there. It takes 8 quarts aprox. for valvebody swap if your doing the complete oilpan swap too. (deepsump pan.)

I end up doing the Deer Stare at the wall for an hour, why can't they make it Rob proff....

From: Colorado,
Thanks for the reply!

I was hoping to avoid getting raped by the dealer unless its my last resort.

I am not doing the 4X4 pan at this time. The stock pan is level with the bottom of the frame. I don't want it hanging down.
I would rather go with a bigger oil cooler instead.

So are you saying I need 8 quarts with the stock pan?

I did a search here and looked in the Tech articles. without success. Went to another forum and saw 8+ with bigger pan so am still uncertain.

Anyone?
Thanks

It's not to expensive, get 10 to start
I did the FFRP alum. pan and I lost track I think it ended up using 11or 12 by the time it was over.
Start with 8 just click it through the gears a few times to get trans to temp & recheck, also I think Greg says to recheck for the first couple tanks of fuel to make sure.
