Blown plug/fuel injector question
Blown plug/fuel injector question
I drive my stock 01 L on long distance trips (sometimes 2000 miles round trip), and it's always been running good. This is more of a theoretical question, but let's say if a spark plug were to blow out in the middle of nowhere, would it be possible to unplug the associated fuel injector, and continue to drive the truck? I haven't blown any plugs, but it's something I worry about on long trips...
If your worried about it, be pro active and put 8 inserts in the plug holes.
You will never have to worry about the plugs then.
As far as your other question I don't know. but I wouldn't mess with unplugging the fuel injector. Though I might be wrong, maybee the gas would remove the oil and prevent lubrication.

I agree totaly with Don.
I only had to go 500 miles to visit my kids round trip and that was always on the back of my mind to.
If you launch a plug. Just park it or go far enough to get it around the corner or off the main road.
Use your cell phone! An open hole in the system is just contaminating that part of the system. Read about the engine of Doom report.
If your stock, I would just check your plugs before a long trip like that and not worry about it.

I blew a plug about 30 miles from my house. I disconnected the injector and drove it slowly. I have since installed the eight inserts and the truck runs great. The inserts are good insurance but so is installing the plugs properly.
