No CATS on stock setup???

I just bought an exhaust last night off a guy who used to have it on his 00 Silver Lightning. Its a straight pipe setup with a dual in dual out flowmaster muffler. Was wanting to know how you guys think this would effect my performance and mpg since the cats will be gone. Im currently stock over all, just have a K&N Air Filter. Havent installed it yet, but 100$ for the set-up was a steal to me. Even if I do it and dont like the sound it will be easy to sell to someone else.

You'll probably trip an SES light running no cats unless you use MIL eliminators or adjust for it via your chip....

Well the guy said sound wise he got more compliments on this setup than he did with his bassani...before he dismantle the block and sold the truck he was pushing 700ft/lbs of torque with his overall setup.

From: Colorado,
Noise does not = < power on these trucks.
Just attracts attention from the cops and neighbors unless you are over the 500 rwhp mark...

Hope you enjoy it

A friend of mine lost a pound of boost, but his performance remained the same.

To me, that means (slightly) less chance of detonation.

Hey Blown347Hatch I see you are from Miami, have you ever been to Towers in Davie? Every Friday night there's a huge gathering of about 500 of every kind of cars and trucks including a bunch of L's right next to the Mustangs. There is also 60's music and a little flea market that sells auto accessories, toys and more. If you haven't been you are welcome to show your L, only costs $1.

You dont gain much unless you are pushing alot of HP already, you will barely notice anything but a noise increase and probly a loss of power if you are stock. Thats if you get a chip, if not then you are just messing your truck up IMO.

Thanks for the responses, I might wait to put it on, or just put the muffler back and leave the cats.
