Vibration Gremlin...Need Driveshaft Balance in Atlanta Area
Vibration Gremlin...Need Driveshaft Balance in Atlanta Area
My 2003 has this annoying vibration that offers an unwanted feature of center console drink mixing.
I've got a Hotchkis lowering kit (that didn't seem to aggravate or contribute more to the problem) and my tires are new. Also, the tires were professionally balanced on a state-of-the-art balance machine (Hunter) during my presence.
I'm beginning to think it may be a driveshaft imbalance from the factory. Does anyone else agree with this theory? Are there any reputable places in the Atlanta area that can do this service to eliminate this possible variable?
Thanks,
Gary

why not just have the dealer install a new driveshaft.
also, the dealership has (or should be able to borrow) a piece of equiptment called an EVA or Electronic Vibration Analyzer that will measure the Hz frequency and force strength of vibrations in a vehicle while driving. this piece of equipment should be able to determine exactly where your vibration is coming from, and determine if indeed you do have a driveshaft concern or not.
also, did the dealership measure driveshaft runout?
just curious.
I'd recomend trying to diagnose the problem (under warranty) before throwing money at it out of pocket.
just my .02
good luck.

also gary you might check out the thread above, I haven't read it yet, but so far it's 3 pages long and the thread starter is complaining of console vibration, same as you.
good luck.

Chris,
Thanks for providing a detailed response. I'll have to give my local dealerships a call to see if they have the machine you speak of. I also read the NLOC relate thread which leads me to think I'm not alone in this vibration dilemna. Once again, thank you, Chris!
Appreciatively,
Gary
