I'm really curious about the boost level though. I have seen a couple of them with alot more mods and running slicks only be 2-3 tenths faster than me. While they were running over 20#'s to my 15 with the Kenne Bell and Nitto's.

Walt,

Glad to hear that you are happy with the results and that you made it home safely in that rain! The truck did just really need a little TLC on the dyno. I think In some cooler weather on the raceside it will make nearly 500. Anyway glad to hear from you and stay in touch bud.

Re: Magnum Powers Dyno Results!

460/560 is great for pump gas.

Your race tune will only be limited by your rods.

500 sounds about right.

What kind of Discharge temps do these blowers have compared to lets say a KB or Ported Eaton, Also what mods and how much boost was he running ?

There are simply to many circustances to give an exact number. Boost, outside temperature, cooling mods ( phenolic spacer, heatexhanger, thermostat), etc... all play a role.

Generally the Mangum is 20 degrees cooler than the Eaton. The Kenne Bell we have really not tested much on in this area.

The Magnum has a raw aluminum casing which will allow heat to exert much more efficiently.

We have seen a Magnum blower under full race setup with an 8lb lower making almost 20lbs of boost conduct 150 degree Discharge temp. Also in a similar truck but with a KB, 8lb lower seeing alomost 20 lbs as well have a discharge temp of 187 degrees.

Check out the JDM MP dyno run on both the JDM site and the MP site, it gives good info (live for the camera) on intake air temps.

Jim and Whip, Thanks for the info. Currently on my Heaton and a 6lb lower, Im seeing temps cruising around town at around 130 degrees. When I get into boost I will see temps of around the same, outside air temps are between 90-95 with humidity. Ive often thought about either a Magnum Powers or Apten port job to solve this little problem.

Yeah driving home in the rain sucked, but it only took 2 1/2 hours, not like getting lost on the way there. the truck is running good except for the idle, but I'm going to throw on a SBTB and see if that fixes the idle.

The butterflys on the current throttle body are off on adjustment. The singleblade should work nice on the truck. Just make sure the adjustments are correct on it as well, let me know if you need some help when you do it. Talk to you soon

yeah I tried to get the blades back into alignment, but I must have made the ports "out of round" when I first ported it, so they just aren't going to seal right nomatter how much adjusting I do. I don't think it mattered when I first did it, but now the magnum is sucking so much air through the gaps its messing with the idle, I got a good deal on new accufab through the classifieds I'll let you know how it turns out.
On a side note, should I run a 50/50 mix If I use the race side, or straight race fuel? what final octane number am I shooting for in the tank to be safe. thanks.

and for the other question, I don't have an aftermarket boost gauge but I would say 16-18lbs depending on the weather.

does this mean that the eaton will disapate heat better if i were to sandblast (bead blast) all of the coating off of it??? (the case)

Walt on your race side you should run a 50/50 mix of race fuel 104 and 93 octane so the final octane should be around 100.

The boost was at 16 on the dyno yesterday and should be around 17-18 on the street.

Im not sure if you sandblast the eaton if it will disipate better.?

yes, it should dissipate heat better.

it'll look like a glob of cement (like a KB) but it should dissipate heat better.

will this better dissipation increase performance?

your guess is as good is mine... but probably not in any noticeable or measureable amount.

just my .02

later,
chris
