Calling Factory_Tech Need Advice

Maybe you remember my other post about my tranny being broken.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hlight=problem

I took it to the dealer and they said it would cost about $1800 to fix it. You were right they have to rebuild it. I am thinking why dont I just get a Factory_Tech rebuild kit? Wouldn't that be a lot better. Or would that not fix the problem. They dont know what is wrong though. But it does sound like the diode. They hooked it up to the computer and found nothing. Then they drove it and just decided that I need to rebuild it. I need some advice on what I should do. I dont have much money to fix it, but if i am going to have to rebuild it i might as well build it right. They also told me it would cost $2500 to fix the head gaskets. I said hell no leave them alone. I had to talk them down to that price too from 3g's. I only have 41k miles on the truck.

The Chicken Man has them

http://www.chikenearsengineering.com/transmission.htm

Factory Tech Monster Box Transmission
With Total Domination Torque Converter
Gen II Lightning 1999 - 2003
Harley Davidson 2002 - 2003
Note: A refundable core charge of $1050.00 will be added to your checkout price.

$3250.00

Or the Kit itself

Factory Tech Monster In A Box Rebuild Kit
Gen II Lightning 1999 - 2003
Harley Davidson 2002 - 2003

$1150.00

Ford say's $1800.00 now, who's to say that price doesn't go up ?

if you can find a GOOD Transmission shop to take this kit and charge you @ 1K to do it, you'd have one kick *** set up for about what it's going to cost you to rebuild yours.
Don't know if someone will do it for 1K, but I would think so ???

Big Red, if you lived in Michigan I would do those head gaskets for a little over a third of that cost.

Thx for the help. I love this forum ppl always seem friendly and willing to help. I am going to call Factory_Tech and ask about the rebuild kit. I dont know what it comes with. No point in buying it if it wouldn't fix my problem.

Has anyone done this before??
