Transmission fluid

I checked my transmission fluid when it was cold today before I even started it. and the fluid came all the way up to the cable on the dip stick. It has a "cold" and "Hot" marking on it. I know if it is hot the fluid should be in between the hot lines and the truck running. But if the truck isnt running and the trans is cold should it be between the cold lines? I have never had another transmission with a dipstick like this one, I am used to checking my other cars when its hot and ideling in park. So what am I doing wrong? Do I need to have it running next time when its cold?

you're supposed to check transmission fluid when the car is warm and running after driving it around a bit so that the fluid circulates through the tranny...

try again

Mine does that as well. I looked at it cold once just to see where it came to and it was past the cold line. I always check it after driving around and then you park it, while still running, cycle through all the gears including reverse then put it in park and check it while the motor is running.

When I did that it was within the lines it needed to be…
