Custom tuning: how custom?

I went through some of the vendor sites and noticed many offer "custom tunes." I was wondering just how customizable their programs are? I searched this forum and couldn't find a list of parameters they could modify?

My local GM performance shop here says he can write his own files for a gamut of late-model fuel-injected cars (LT-1s, LS-1s, etc.). He told me to watch out for tuners who just load generic files on a chip and send it to you.

What do most Lightning vendors do....write their own files or modify generic templates?

unless you buy a superchip from superchip in the soter, or a diablo from the store, any of the tuners in here will customize the chip for your applicaiton,

However, it is always best to have it Dyno Tuned.
The mail order chips are excellent, the dyno tune chips are just a little better and precise

How can I get a dynotune from one of these Lightning tuners? Do I have to drive up to their shop or can this be done via email or mail? I have a couple of dynos around my area but none cater to Lightnings specifically. Only a couple of them tune and most do GMs.

Our mail order tunes are usually very close to optimum. If you have local dynos, you can get the tune from us, dyno it, and then let me know the A/F readings from the dyno and I can adjust the tune accordingly. We do not use any "generic" tunes; never have, never will. All tunes are made from scratch in house.

LightningTuner,

Sounds great! Do you have any specials coming up on the SCT 9100? Do you offer free unlimited tunes with it? I would probably go this route since emailing tunes takes out a lot of the downtime I would suffer with mailing a chip back and forth.

Whoops, just realized from your website that you only sell Predators? But I have been told you offer SCT stuff as well now?

I have not revised the site yet to show the SCT stuff. We do carry the 9100 microtuner. It's $399 plus $65 for the download cables. That includes one free tune. Extra tunes are $30 each, same policy as the Predators. If you need minor tweaks to exsting tunes, like if you go to the dyno and need an adjustment, I don't usually charge for that.
