12's on 22's??

What does it take to run 12's on 22's? I know it has been done and that is what I am trying for. Right know my set up is like this:

99 Lightning on 22's with a 4# pully, Superchip single program (JDM custom tune), Line mod valve, CAI, 90mm MAF, NGK TR5 and Flowmaster true duel setup.

Best time slips:
R/T- .517
60' - 2.051
1/8 - 8.609
1/4 - 13.311
MPH - 101.58

What should my next mod be?? Traction bars would be the cheapest, but is it enought to get me 12's. Should I go for more power? E-fan would be my next big improvement, or I could get a 6# pully but would have to reburn chip or get flip chip + reburn. Need help!

you probably dont get any wheel hop with the 22's

so you dont need trakbars

6lber and some cool air will be close

What size tires you got? I also have 22's with virtually no performance mods (magnaflow) and best I have ran was 14.1. I have came to the conclusion the truck will not run in the 13,s with stock with those wheels tires. Did you have the Dub Deuces when it was stock stock?

It's not so much a matter of "What does it take",
as much as
WHY ???

You are going to chew up those street tires BIG TIME at the track,
I did more damage to my F-1's in the first 3 months at the track, than the next two years on the road. I mean ya I'm good, I manage 1.8 - 1.9 60 ft on them , but it destroyed them, took a good 20K right off them. It would be much cheaper in the long run to just find a set of used Rims/Slicks for a few hundred.

But if your going to do it anyway, rememer traction bars aren't used to give you traction, they're used to stop the drive shaft from snapping, and to prevent wheel hop of course.
What ever your doing now seems pretty good, a 2.0 is not bad at all on street tires. The prob is you have 3.55's gears, then your using taller tires on top of that. If Your going to race often enough, I would highly recommend a DS Loop + Bars,
AND SLICKS
They would knock 3/10th's - 4/10th's off your 60ft, and pretty much grrnty a 12 sec pass

exactly my thoughts, get that 60ft time down, which=slicks, and possibly 3.73 gears

JJ ran 12.03 on his 22's @ 12lbs of boost at a whopping 5200lbs of weight one night at Cecil last summer. I think it was a 2.3 60 ft or something. Dumbass had his stock 18's in the back and jack, spare and a ton of stereo in it at the time.

It can be done

You have a decent 60 foot for a 22in setup....

More power will get your where you want to be.

I ran on my 22's all the time... Its fun right?

Some 4.10 gears would be a good place to start if your gonna run taller tires.

Well my whole goal to get 12's is just that's were I want my engine power to be. After that then I will "try" to not mod the engine anymore. I don't do alot of racing. I have been to the track once when i was stock (14.4 on 22's), then twice now after the mods. Yes slicks would prob get me a 12's pass, but i just want to do it with my daily driver setup. I already have 20K miles on the tires so im gonna need new ones soon.

ICULOKN: I knew some one here has done it. It is sweet rolling to the staging lanes and getting the looks. This last time I could see the pit crew guy looking and saying "Thats sweet" to the other guy. Just want to back up the looks with the speed.

Yeah, HDMLINIUM is the one I was thinking about. I think I will get the E-fan, and maybe 3:73 gears.

Bills truck is truly awesome. Ive seen hundreds come in and out of here and I feel that it is within my top 3 favorites. The 22's looked awesome on it, he had these back before 23's, 24's, or even 26's most recently. I remember the first pic he sent 2 summers ago when he first put them on, I think i carried that picture around for a couple of months in my pockets showing all my freinds.

Nascar,

For your truck I could definatley suggest the Electric Fan and the 3.73's. That would be your next step. After that I could suggest a full exhaust then your really setup for a blower like the Magnum Powers or a conservative shot of N20.

Yeah, thats a bad azz truck Im sure it was awesome when no one had 22's. Anyhow, Wouldnt it be smarter just to go ahead and put a 4.10 in? Im assuming he has a '99 and I can understand that a 3.73 gear might be cheaper and easier to get since they come int 2001 + I just thought since he was going through with it might as well get a 4.10. Probly help with the Dub Deuces
