Thumbs down HELP! Transmission problem

The other day I got done driving on the highway for about an hour. I was going about 60-80 the whole time. It was working fine and of course it was in 4th gear. From a stop my tranny wouldn't shift out of first gear tell about 3500 rpm. Then would slam! in gear. I look at my friend like WTF. I thought it might go away. Needless to say it didn't. When I put into 2nd gear it feels like it has no power. Like it doesnt want to move and just feels like I am reving the engine. I heard some time ago that some 2001 trannies had some diff. part in them that would go out before it should. I cant remember what is was though. Anyone know what I am talking about? Maybe the Factory Tech Valve Body killed my 2nd gear??! I installed it at about 36,000 miles and now I have about 41,000. I pulled the chip to see if that was the problem and it didn't help at all. It would shift from 1st to 2nd and would bark the tires. I read that all Lightning with the vavle body do that. So why did mine die?! What do you guys think? Is my transmission dead? Can it be fixed or do I need to replace the whole thing? This is my daily driver and right now I wish I didn't mod the tranny. I thought the vavle body was going to help it. I have not been driving my truck hard or gone WOT for about 3 months because I need to get it tuned better. I was getting some pinging. I have my mods in my sig.

PS: Now when I think about it my truck did hick up or somthing right before I got off the highway. My friend and I both felt it. Like the truck wanted to die on me. There was a small jolt.

Look at the ID Tag, if it's a 1J code, it sounds like the mechanical diode died on you.

Thanks Factory Tech I will take a look. I hope that is a cheap part to replace. Maybe I should get a Tranny cooler since it gets real hot here in Texas.

Ok get this Factory Tech was right it is a 1J. While I am under the truck with my flash light I see some oil on my frame rail. So I search to see where it came from. I find out that I must have a leaky head gasket. So after I get unstuck I go over to the other side and it is worse! Man I treat her great and this is what I get! Wish I had an 03' right now.... I wouldn't be surprised of I had a loose spark plug. >8[ ==]

If you have an oil leak its comming from the head gasket, I had the same problem on my 02 L, it was the right head leaking on my truck, it was covered under warranty, this is a common problem so ford uses a thicker head gasket to fix it.

I guess they will not replace mine b/c I have a pulley and my warranty is expired anyway. Think I should tell the dealer it is a problem with the Lightning and they shoud fix it? Both side on mine are leaking. How hard is it to fix a mechanical diode? Can it be done with simple tools? I might try to fix it my self and the head gaskets. I can't imagine it taking much longer for me to do it than taking it to a shop where it will just sit tell they can start on it. Plus pay for labor.

GET-R-DONE!!

Repalcing the mechanical diode involves rebuilding the transmission, it sounds electrical but it's really a fancy name for a one way clutch. Retro fitting the sprag for it means replacing the direct cluth drum, race, sprag and plates. Definitely not a DIY kind of thing.

Yikes!

Is it possible that the valve body contributed to this in some way?

I have one of your valve bodies on the way and I am concerned but not worried because you build a great product from what everyone has said here.

I'm gathering this is more of a vehicle that isn't tuned properly leading to problems in other areas?

No, this is a problem with the part being junk when it was built. The mechanical diodes have serious issues.

Well that really sucks!
I gather we are all in for some failure at some point then?
