Hopping when doing a burnout Please help!!!
I just bought my mt's streets and before i get to the problem i have lakewood traction bars and the snubber is at about a half inch on both sides. But now when i do a burnout it hops like crazy from start to end. Knock on wood when i lauch her shes fine but when i do a burnout it does hop a lot. I put the stock tires on and it hops as well but not at much. Is this normal or no. Also i really dont smash the throttle when i do a burnout i kinda ease into it, is that my problem? im going t the track tomorrow night so i need info back asap. Thanks
This is a common situation.
Best thing to do without any mods like some long tubes is to spin the tires faster. Get em nice and wet. then spin them up into 3rd gear quickly. (a line lock is well worth it) Even long tubes don't fully solve this when spinning the tires slowly.
One small thing you can do is to put a "clamp" on the first rear leaf. This keeps them from seperating and makes for a stiffer spring.
With some slapper bars this can become a balancing act though. Put a clamp (do a search here) on the shortest leaf to the next shortest leaf rearward of the axle.
Again, wheel speed will do more for you than anything.

hmm
two things...........either not spinning the tires fast enough and they are starting to hook, or you brakes are putting a load on the wheels.
I couldn't get my brakes to hold in the front enough withough apply too much and having the backs grab too hard..........bought a line loc and solved though. Well worth it.

do u guys think that it may be because they are not wet. I mean i didnt wet them or go threw a puddle when i did a burnout i was on the street and nowhere near the track. But tomorrow i am goingdown and ill spin them a little in the water before i roll out and do a burnout.P.S. the intention of the water at the track is for people not to wheel hop when they are doing there burnout right???? thanks for the help
Yep as said, very common w/ Slapper style bars
And believe me, the hopping doesn't stop with the burnout.
Have you ever seen my 11.81 Vid ???
CAN YOU SAY REAR WHEEL WHEELIE
I now use 58" JDM Rancho Style Bars, diff of night and day

I have a line lock, Truck Traks, and keep the snubber at 1/2 also. I go to the box and wet the tires all the way around. Pull out of water. Line lock, floor it in drive, don't look at tires only spedo. When it reads 70 MPH in 3RD I burn to the line NO HOP. Also I have after market shocks
that work.
that work.
too much traction.
put it in drive and spin those tires to heat them up.
spinning tires at Low RPM"s only sends chunks of rubber flying.
