LOL This is to funny to keep to myself.

I am enjoying my new L and got 360 miles showing so far.
Did the Bassani thing, been cleaning and detailing. Dropped the spare after figuring out there is a lock LOL the 99 didn't have that ffeature.

Well anyway, last night I stopped at the grocery store and do a months worth of shopping cause they got all this grub on sale for the 4th.

I get home and back into the garage as usual and unload and go to the neighbors to watch fireworks.

This morning I am up and off to breakfast in the L . On the way I turn this corner and hear a "CLUNK".
My overactive mind starts racing and I am thinking ohhh poop now what?
Is it the dreaded clunk?
Is it the spare tire carrier?
Is it the Bassani?
Is it the rear end or WTF?
You know how us **** types are. On the way home from breakfast I hear it again as I am turning another corner and make a note to check out everything underneath the truck later.

Later:
I am push mowing my grass and missing strips about 4" wide cause I am gawking at the L in the driveway. It is cool but I am sweating and enjoying the morning. I walk by the back of the truck to empty my grass catcher and I see what appears to be the dreaded "CLUNK"

Yeah I know! It is always something. I am putting it up on the jackstands now and going over it from one end to the other after I install Herbs washers that a salvaged off my 99.

Thanks for reminding me about the oil seperator. I got to do that to. Guess I will do the search..... What kind did you use?

What other quirks are there about the 04 I need to check?

It looked like the Tranny Pan was shaped a bit different. I don't know what all the fuss is about usning the 4X4 tranny pan. I know it holds more oil and that takes longer to overheat but ounce you make the heat you just have more hot oil. In a 4X4 you are at lot's of extreme angles and I can see the need but wouldn't it be just as well to add a bigger oil cooler?

 

Couldn't hurt, I see factory tech has them.

 

It has a drain plug for ease of changing fluid......JR

 

LOL That exact thing happened to me only not with a can of beans. I took a corner and heard a thud and was like WTF? Later that day I remembered I had just forgotten to let my girlfriend out of the bed. We had gotten into an argument earlier so I put her in there.

 

03 and 04 are the same and I have read that on some there has been an issue with how some type of drain for the air-conditioning (maybe condensation) that may cause the passenger side carpet to get wet from how the hosing or tube may be routed inside the cab. Not sure on all the specifics, just know it can cause the passenger side carpet to get wet.

I haven’t noticed the problem but I have only used my A/C once since I bought the truck. If I do use it this summer I will be sure to keep an eye on the carpet and see if I have any issues with it…

 

Thanks on the drain plug comment! That definitley makes it less messy.

Thanks on the AC drain. I had it on yesturday and noticed a puddle on the ground. I just checked and don't feel anything up high at the top area of the carpet and it feels ok at the door sill.

On the clunking girl friend.----- If she is a good cook and don't snore to loud I wouldn't mind trying her out if your done with her?
How many miles has she got on her?
Couple dings here and there is ok if she cleans up fair at the car wash.
Does she know how to change oil and rotate tires?

 

Trust me, you don't want any girl after I have had a turn. LOL

In all honesty I feel bad even joking about her. She is an absolute angel.

I am going to get the kind Rob 02 has. His pictures of his intercooler are like new. I wonder if that has anything to do with spraying NOS hehehe

I just finished installing herbs clunk washers. Sure enough the slot was there just like the 99.

I would really like to know why the factory hasn't changed that?

I also waxed the inside of the truck bed !!! I should be commited to mental institution for that. I will prolly slip and fall in there now.

Sure looks good but now I don't want to get it scratched. Good thing I have 3 different trailers to drag around for the dirty work.
