here is me putting the slicks on before the first run on Saturday.
I ran a 12.998 on Godyear F1's. I thought that was damn impressive, had to ease into the throttle resulting in a 2.2 second 60' then hammer it, Barking 2nd and going a little side ways.
F1's are slippery, period. The secret is to clean them off but not heat them up.
With the slicks I ran a "little" better.

I was gonna ask the question of someone menace, so I will ask you. I have burnt the hell outta my f1's and just "cleaned" them. My results vary, but would you suggest just spinning the dirt and water off of them, or getting them sticky hot?

With f1's, drive around the water, Back up (but don't put the rear tires in the water, and spin them for about 1/2 second. Just enough to scrub them. For me, I found the hotter they get, the slipperier. Then ease into the throttle (hence the 2.2 60' time) and then gradually put it to the floor. Be careful becuase when it shifts into 2nd the rear may chirp, or break lose. At any time when I'm racing I break traction I just coast to the end of the track. No sense chancing a meeting with the wall when I know my time will suck.
Usually I get a little chirp when shifting into 2nd, occassionally it breaks lose and spins the tires (smokes them).
But a 12.9 on F1's in my book is pretty decent, others have done better, but this was the 2nd time EVER running them. Just to see what I could do with them.
Even with slicks I drive around the water, back up into the water, turn the tires over (just get them wet) not even 1/4 second. pull forward to the dry stuff and heat them up there. Much more friction and friction = heat.
Regardless what tire you use, if you spin the tires IN THE WATER, you are coating the inside of the rear wheel well with water. That will drip on your tires are you are staging and launching. That's definitely not a good thing
Holy crap!
It certainly would be interesting to know the demographics of the typical Lightning owner...
How about starting a poll? How many Lightning owners have done jail time?
By the LOOKS of it, it probably is the majority
