4 LB pully

I just got a 4lb lower pulley and matching belt, Diablo predetor chip, cone filter and a 90mm mass air flow sensor for my 99 L. I am very confused. The freguently asked forums sounds like this will over rev the blower, but the more recent stuff I read it sounds like a lot of people are running 4 lbs or more without problems. Will this be a problem for a daily driver? Also do I have to tune the chip even though it is one for a Lightning? And if so what is best send it in to Jonny L or just dyno tune it. Also to I need a differant heat range plug so I don't melt the tips, or a cooler termostat?(what is stock temp) Sorry for all the questions my L is stock right know and I just want to do this right.
Thanks Bill

I've got a 4#er and a custom predator tune from PSP and have had no problems whatsoever. Alot of people do, haven't heard of many problems as long as you have a good tune. But definately change the plugs, NGK TR-6's are commonly used. Hope this helps, good luck

I believe the stock thermostat is a 180. I've heard that 160 will cause a "engine cold too long" code. I'm going to switch to a 170 soon.

Have had a 4# on for almost 2 yrs and 20,000 miles and no problems. I have been thinking about switching to a 6#.

Smart thinking Bill, and a Smart List of Mods too

Things have changed, and tunes have come a long way,
YES DEF USE A TUNER, not a mail order company,
NOR THE DIABLO TUNE THAT CAME ON THE PREDATOR.
There are many people with horror stories about those tunes,
Diablo tunes VERY AGGRESIVE and sometimes it's enough to break something BAD. Plus with that MAF, you MUST get a custom tune.

JLP, PSP, or any of our Tuners that do Predators can give you a nice safe "Worry Free Tune", AND NO dont worry about over turning the Eaton. Yes a pulley does turn it faster, and yes at some point it becomes too much, but a 4lb is no prob or worry.

Schitt I run a 4lb Lower, 2lb Upper, a GIANT Ported Eaton,
AND NITROUS all on a stock block, The trucks @ 2-1/2 yrs old and has had those Mods since day one, and Juice for @ 2 yrs.

Yes I am pushing the limits,
but I run a very PIG RICH Program, and 2 zones colder Plugs which give me a little forgivness in my tune.
I run Denso IT-22's, "You need a minimum of NGK TR-6's"

I agree with Rob. I have 4 lb lower, CUSTOM Predator tune from JLP, along with some other bolt on's. I drive mine daily and have no issues (other than traction problems)

Main key, safe tune. I'm making almost 420 RWHP and could easily make more, but would rather have the safer tune. My a/f's on the big end were like 11.2. A more aggressive tune would net me more peak power, but I don't want to hurt the motor.

I would def. get some colder plugs. I run Denso IT22's like Rob does.

Have fun with the mods.

nice

i had a 2lber for like month, after EVERYONE said not to bother and go right to the 4. Sure enough, to the 4 I went. Unless you like to romp on it enough........grandma dailty driving you wont notice a difference.

I too am contemplating an upper pulley......we'll see where that goes.
