Temp Sensor... Need Sealing advice...

After reading Mr. Skelton's awesome gauge install instructions, I have decided to take on the task of installing multiple temp sensors. While this isn't the first temp sensor I have installed, the application I am wanting is new to me.

If you install the temp sensor in the intercooler resevoir, how do you seal the the sensor into the resevoir? It is plastic correct?

Also, would the gooseneck for the thermostat still be the best spot for the coolant temp?

Any help would be appreciated.
Joe

WAIT... I have put together a fitting that will solve your problem and let you install the temp sensor anywhere before or after the heatexchanger by just splicing into the 5/8" hose. I will post a pic of the finished fitting tomorrow.

It consists of a 1/2" brass t-fitting and two 1/2" to 5/8" barb fittings that screw into both ends. The other hole is for the 1/2" temp sensor fitting that comes with the Autometer temp gauge.

I would steer away from drilling holes in plastic or metal that can start leaking if not sealed correctly.

TampaBlack99,

If you have something available, I would love to know. I am nearby in Orlando, and would love to chat about it. Let me know what I can do.

Thanks.

I'll be moving to Orlando at the end of July. If you can't wait till then, when I post the pic of the fitting you will have no problem going to Home Depot and building your own. I plan on installing one before and after my dual oem heatexchangers.

Tampa,

I will be waiting patiently for the photos, in order to do it right.

Let me know if you need anything transitioning to Orlando. I would be glad to lend a hand.

Welcome to the new block!

Is there a need to silicone tape the threads?

Thanks for the advice, help, and photos!

I just used the liquid teflon stuff I bought for installing my braided fuel line.
I would imaging regular teflon tape would work fine.
