Angry Hood Rot!!!! WTF????????????

I thought our aluminum hoods would not rot as fast as steel? Well I just went to quick detail my truck and noticed my hood is totally rotting out. It was not there three weeks ago when I waxed it....now it has a rot spot about four inches around underneath and about an inch long along the front section. I am going to drive this frigging truck off a god da mn cliff (see my posts for my other problems) except my door hanlde would probably break and I'd be stuck inside. Ofcoarse my airbag would deploy preventing a quick death, and I would die a slow painful death at the bottom of said cliff, trapped inside, listening to my truck rot away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yup

i thought i've showed you mine. Funny thing is it hasnt' seemed to get much worse, but that's the reason why i wanna do i hood, rather than pay to fix the stock one. Right along the front seem. My father's 2000 had it really bad before he blew the motor and got his 03. Do you know what build # yours was?? This was a known problem even on the expys and regular f150's. Something about not getting the glue or adhiesive in the folds of the metal or soemthing.

I remember you saying something about it. Mine is #5XX and it JUST showed up and is growing fast. Ford said it will be warrented if it goes completely through. So if I want them to pay for it, I have to let my truck look like a sh it box for a couple months. Thats good for Ford rep huh?

Let me know if you need a new hood, I have a stock hood (Silver) that I don't need.

The problem that you are speaking of concerns the roof welds where the meet the pillars and the rear of the cab. That rubbery material never got good paint adhesion and usually flakes off the truck. My 99 did that and began a horrific repaint story. Thank goodness my 02 is still perfect.
The corrosion on the underside of the hood seems to be quite common on the F-150's and Expeditions. I have seen many do it, although neither of mine have it.
