Fun Ford Richmond 2004

Hi guys.

It's Sunday morning and I'm about to head back down to Virginia Motorsports Park.

So far at Fun Ford Richmond:

Saturday, it rained on and off until sometime after noon.

once it finally stopped, they started trying to dry the track which takes hours at VMP.

I guess they started racing at around 3:00pm yesterday.

the conditions were HOT and HUMID.

there were only a few trucks in the 11s.

the fastest Lightning I saw ran a 11.20 using a LARGE shot of nitrous on an otherwise relatively stock setup except for upgraded rods and pistons if I remember correctly.

Don's bolt was running mid to high 11s.

and nearly everyone else was running mid 12s.

again, this is off of memory, and my memory sucks, so if I neglected you, or you ran better than 12s and I didn't mention your name, I apologize.

even with the rain, the turnout for the event was great. there were 30 or 31 trucks racing in the Top Truck class.

the drag radial, renegade, outlaw, and pro 5.0 classes are rediculously fast.

anyway, I'm not a very good commentator, so I'll just post a few pictures from yesterday.

after the race alot of people went to Hooters in Chester and had a blast.

thanks for the wings & beer Jim!

later,
chris

the pit area. is that a focus wagon race car?

Since my truck is messed up and I wasn't racing, I decided to bring my puppy dog to the track.

this turned out to be a bad idea. we walked around for a while and he was fine, and then all of the sudden right in the middle of the midway, I was talking to somebody when suddenly his leash jerks out of my hand! I look just in time to see Miller galloping full speed and barreling down on another unsuspecting dog and it's owner. it was like a scene from when animals attack. miller blindsided the other dog full speed. I was running to catch up, the other owner was quick and snatched his dog away from miller just as I got there and grabbed the big stupid dog. luckily, there was no biting, just a bunch of barking and whatnot. I appologized and felt thoroughly embarrassed and was thankful that nobody (dog or person) got hurt. so needless to say miller spent the rest of his time at the track in the back of the idling focus with the A/C on entertaining guests through his window.

here he is visiting with Jim, Paul, and Don.

Well Chris, we all drove up from the beach yesterday to make a couple of runs, yeap the rain sucked, took forever to dry out and now I have to go look for a NEW DOG. The wife seen yours and fell in love so now she want a BIG dog. I told her I'm the only "Big Dog" she could handle and I could use the money on parts! That didn't go over good. Guess I'll look for a little pup!

Later, Pat

the weather was MUCH nicer today. no rain, much cooler and much less humidity than yesterday.

everyone was running faster than yesterday from what I saw.

I believe this is a shot of Jim from JDM driving JohnFastruck's '02 and giving Don's Bolt round 2 of eliminations with a redlight.

Are you allowed to race someone else's truck or was Jim already tech'd in as the driver?

Congrats to Don, it looks like the "team" gave one back.
