400 miles and already and oil leak?

Just got my Sonic Blue Lightning back from the shop because of a factory paint flaw in the tailgate. It needs to have all new carpet installed due to a tear in the original and now I have to take it back in because of a oil leak and there is only 400 miles on it. I hope I have more to look forward from than this after I just traded my Audi S4 in on this truck. Anyone else have any oil leaks so quick?

No oil leaks what so ever in my 03 Lightning. BTW one of my friends just got an '04 S4, they're very nice cars.

Yeah my S4 was an 02 and it was chipped with MTM....it was super fast but the Turbos were ready to go and I dont feel like dropping 8k in the car. The Lightning is much more fun to drive and I really missed the rumble of the V8 motors.....

Some people (including myself) have gotten a passenger side head oil leak. Some have went away, some haven't. Mine went away then came back. Usually happens around 10,000 miles.

where is your oil leak?

this is going to sound crappy and please don't take it personally, but at only 400 miles, maybe you should spend more time driving the truck instead of picking it to death.

I mean repainting, recarpeting, resealing the engine? i'm not saying that I'd be satisfied with torn carpet, but alot of us have imperfect paint.

sheesh, just drive the truck and enjoy it. it's a ford truck, not a lexus.

just my .02

FWIW, lots of people have what appears to be a rear main seal leak when the trucks are new.

believe it or not, this problem usually disappears after a few thousand miles.

good luck, I hope you get the truck fixed to your satisfaction.

later,
chris

WELCOME BLUE
Sorry to hear about your prob's, that does suck

MINE HAS NEVER BEEN BACK TO FORD
schitt, I wouldn't even let them detail it.
After seeing how they treated and test drove their L's,
I had them drive mine in from out of State with a retired Cop
and his wife. I was at the dealership when they arrived with
my truck and 225 miles "I think it was" on the OD. The salesman said, come back in a few hours, I SAID NO THANK YOU, I've seen what you guys do the new L's here, I took it unprepped and ran out of there NEVER TO GO BACK.

In the first week or two, my tailgate molding came off,
my windshield molding fell off on the parkway, my rear window molding was all screwed up, and a few other things.
I FIXED EACH ONE MYSELF
Too many nightmare story's about the dealerships for me
to ever give them mine......

GOOD LUCK
AND YES THERE IS SOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR YOU TO LOOK FOWARD TOO

This guy trades in an S4 with "the turbos ready to go" , and now he complains about torn carpet and an oil leak. That's what you get for dumping your problems on someone else, geesh. Some poor sucker is gonna buy your heap S4 and get stuck with paying for turbos. Nice

Ok I see I have been welcomed rather nicely here....Let me explain the situation about the S4 rather quickly...when a dealer knows your car is chipped and you have problems possibly related to the chip then its nearly impossible to get warranty work done. As far as the "Poor Sucker" who bought my Audi he/she wont have a problem since the car is completly stock and still in warranty...the turbos just arent meant to be pushed by the aftermarket chips. So lets just end that conversation now. We all should be on the same page as we are all Lightning owners...and for the guy that stated I should drive my truck rather than pick it apart....I could see your point if I bought a used truck...however when you have a paint run that is noticable from 20 feet behind the truck and your carpet has a 4 inch hole in it why is that picking something apart...especially if the dealer says they will fix it prior to the paperwork being signed....I dont think anyone would be happy if they had an oil leak after just buying a new car nomatter what make and model.....

So with that all said and behind me I would like to introduce myself to this forum and hope to get some good ideas from everyone here. I dont claim to know everything about my new truck and its capabilities but thats why I joined this forum in hopes of hearing some good ideas. So thank you all in advance for any of your responses to my questions. Hope to make my Lightning as bad as most of the ones in this forum......

First upgrade done so far BTW was HID headlights.

I had a few small problems with mine also....that I fixed.
And I completely agree with you Rob. Mine will never be touched by a dealership......ever...period.

The lights are great, the more i have them the more I love them. And I make fun of my mustang friends' HID's with no high beams

So far I just have sylvania silverstar 9005 bulbs in the foglights but they dont match well. Flying **** used Nokya Arctic Purple 9005 bulbs and said they were a perfect match, so I'll probably try those next. I'm also considering going to yellow fog lights.

Here is a picture of the silverstars.

West Palm Beach....thanks for the info on the lights. I was also considering going with yellow fogs as well....I was hoping to see them on another truck first before making that purchase.
