I am way out of warranty but within the emissions warranty... okay?

I start hearing a squeak coming from under the truck and it only happens when the truck is warm... which made it tough to find. I could hear it when I got out of the truck and closed the doors but as it cooled the noise went away...

Finally got under it and found the problem... exhaust hanger on the drive side is broke at the transmission. Okay... no biggie, just weld it and be off.

Until I spoke to a service manager who said if it is a weld failure on a factory part and on the pipe with the cats on it... it will be replace under the emission warranty... how cool is that!

Here's a picture (ignore the messy garage floor... I do): You can see the breaks in both the top and the bottom brackets just before the welds.


Anyone else experience this? Replacing this pipe and getting new cats on one side should be no big deal... anything I should be aware of? I thought about just getting it welded but having it replaced free is pretty attractive.
