Talking PSP Deflowers Virgin 2002 on the Dyno

We don't get bone stock virgin trucks here at the shop often, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to post a "typical" performance package from PSP with a dyno session, on a stock 2002 truck.

As mentioned, it's a bone stock 2002 with 27k miles. Bone stock it made 350/424 at the wheels. The air fuel pretty lean, in the upper 12s. This was a bone stock truck, that's how it came from Ford.

We added our PSP FASTair induction system, Denso IT20 plugs, and PSP 4lb lower pulley with belt. The customer chose to have us do the tuning via Predator, so he wouldn't have to mod the PCM for a chip. It only took two pulls on the dyno for me to get his A/F to a nice high 11's. Timing was set at 16 degrees, and verified with the Ford NGS during the pulls. All pulls were made at 180 degrees engine coolant temp, including the stock pull.

After the mods, the truck now makes 396/492 at the wheels. That's a gain of 46 rwhp and 68 rwtq. I was very pleased with the results, and I am sure the customer will be too when he comes to pick it up .

I thought this info would be nice to post, since there are lots of new Lightning owners here on this site, who have no idea what parts to add and what gains to expect. Anyone interested in getting some PSP go fast goodies for their truck, can feel free to contact me.

Pic and dyno graph below...

Good info. I like seeing before and after numbers so you'll now what to expect out of a mod.

I was going to ask if those #'s were SAE, but I see that the dyno printout says SAE correction.

Hey Sal,
1st saw that truck last nite and it looks great, ist time I saw the wet okales in person.

2nd: My truck is "bone" stock
We can do some dyno testing with mine when I break it in before I break it again. Maybe a pull stock with the Apten....

Same mods and Sal dynoed my truck last fall. First pull was 401 but was a little high. He dropped it back to get high 11's and its now at 393RWHP. I cant believe you got 415 from the same setup.

Very nice results Sal!

Did anything ever materialize with that possible trip to Kentucky to do some tuning? I have a bone stock Sonic Blue 03 that needs the hook up!

Sal have you noticed any other stock lightnings running that lean. My 03 was dynoed in the 12s a/f also, and it was bone stock. I was told that normally it shouldnt be running that lean, from Ford.

My Old Truck Dyno'd at 359rwhp bone stock save ram air intake. But had an even leaner a/f....13.1..Never got to dyno it after the new tune and pulley.
