What's the trick to get this thing off?

I don't know but mines on forever

When I bought mine the dam thing popped after a few days
right in the center, I couldn't figure out for the life of me,
how to snap it back down, it looked like total schitt,
AND I SURLY WASN'T LETTING FORD TOUCH IT

So instead I wedged something under it to make room,
and glued it on permanently

But some time later I remember when I had the tail gate down
you could see the clips, I don't remember if you can see it from
the top, or if you have to be laying on your back under it, with the tail gate down, go check it out, you'll see what I mean.

 

I pulled my tailgate off and laid it on some blankets. I tried carefully to remove that piece by squeezing that tabs on the backside of the tail gate lower lip.. You might just want to purchase a new one....

 

No fasteners, just snaps on.

Open the tail gate and look at it from there, real easy to do with a set of pliars to squeeze the sections that snap into the tailgate.
