buddy threw a plug in a 2000 L

#3 for inquiring minds that want to know. What I didn't know was that this happens to '00 L's. I thought it was '01 and '02. Maybe I'm wrong.

Please let me know if this is an issue with my friends year Lightining, thanks

ya all trucks before 2003 have the same 3 thread heads, so it is a issue with his truck too.

Not only is it evident on 00 Lightnings but, it`s been occuring since 1997 on all Ford trucks and even some Mustangs. It`s more pronounced on Lightnings cause of the the added cylinder pressure from the (h)eaton.

i threw a plug 2 friday's ago and it looks like its around 2 grand... whole new head is required. remedy: upgrade both heads to 2003+ style. (more threads) or just be sure to torque down those plugs every so often

Just make sure you don't overtighten that is a cause for failure also. I think 13ft/lbs is what is recommended. I payed 3k to have one replaced in my 02 HD, before that I had a helicoil put in for a couple of hundred but it did not last long...
Here is a good read...
